SuperMileage

AN OVERVIEW

The SuperMileage Gas Vehicle Team at UCLA competes in the collegiate Shell Eco-marathon Americas competition, where we are challenged to design, build, and race the most fuel-efficient vehicle as possible. We strive to push the boundaries of what is technically possible, giving students invaluable experience and real world engineering skills. With a focus on improving energy efficiency, we help reduce the harmful environmental effects of gasoline combustion.

Founded in Fall 2015, the Electric Vehicle is the latest subset of Bruin Racing and is the direct sister project of the SuperMileage Gas Vehicle. The team competed in its first Shell Eco-marathon competition in April 2018 placing 8th with an efficiency of 133 mi/kWh. Unlike the other Racing teams, EV consists primarily of electrical engineering and computer science students. The EV team works alongside the Supermileage gas vehicle for help with structures, steering, and powertrain for its vehicle and will also participate in the Shell Eco-Marathon event alongside its gas-powered compatriot.
